Joshua Tree
California, USA (35mm) The tree itself is the symbol of a profound idea: new life sprung from death. A moth eats into the existing branches and makes space for new growth; the insect and the tree need one another. The Joshua Tree National Park is located at the intersection of the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. These distinctions are of course a human projection, but the experience of roaming around Jumbo Rocks reminds you that words and projections have their place, just like rocks, moths, and trees.
